Lithium Battery Recycling

The New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT), Northeast Recycling Council (NERC), and Northeast Waste Management Officials Association (NEWMOA) have joined together to organize this webinar. The presentations will provide an in- depth examination of multiple aspects of spent lithium-ion batteries (LIBs), including innovations that reduce the environmental impacts of operations in recycling, reuse, and recovery of valuable materials.

Dr. Yan Wang, William Smith Foundation Dean’s Professor of Mechanical Engineering at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, on “The Challenges and Opportunities of Lithium-Ion Battery Recycling”
Dr. Chao Yan, CEO, Princeton NuEnergy Inc. on “Innovations in Lithium-ion Battery Recycling: Fewer Emissions, Less Energy Use, and Lower Cost”
Dr. Wen Zhang, Associate Professor at the New Jersey Institute of Technology on “Extraction of Lithium and Cobalt from Spent LIBs and Waste Prevention”
This webinar attracted over a thousand registrants and over 150 people who participated the webinar. The participants come from academia, industries, governments and non-government organizations.
