Fangzhou Liu received 2021 John J. LaGrosa Award from the New Jersey Water Environment Association

Fangzhou Liu, a Ph.D. candidate of Environmental Engineering at New Jersey Insitute of Technology, recently received the 2021 John J. LaGrosa Award from the New Jersey Water Environment Association on May 27, 2021, which was designed to support and encourage highly capable individuals to continue studies in Environmental Science or Engineering with a strong component in one or more areas of Water Quality Control and Environmental. The award includes a NJWEA certificate, a one-year free student membership in the NJWEA and the Water Environment Federation, and a check for $1,500.

Supervised by Professors Wen Zhang, Fangzhou’s research focuses on the microwave enhanced membrane for contaminants degradation and virus disinfection under funding support from NSF, EPA and the U.S Bureau of Reclamation. As the first-year Ph.D. student, he has completed his qualifying exam and research proposal defense in early January 2021 and publish two first author and one co-author journal articles in some of high impact journals, including Environment International and Journal of Hazardous material. He also received Modern-day Technology Leader Award at the 2021 BEYA STEM Global Competitiveness Conference and LSRPA poster competition winner in February 2021. Now, he is working on the synthesis of novel microwave-responsive catalyst and virus inactivation. Congratulations to Dr. Fangzhou Liu! Type your paragraph here.
