The Wen Zhang's research group integrates nanotechnology and environmental engineering disciplines into the research and education. The goals of Dr. Zhang's research group are to apply interdisciplinary knowledge to address the challenges that our society is facing in environmental sustainability and water-energy nexus (WEN). The technical approaches that Dr. Zhang's group specializes in include:

  1. Material characterization at nanoscale using atomic force microscope (AFM).
  2. Novel and environmentally benign nanomaterial development for environmental applications.
  3. UV and visible light-driven photocatalytic processes for renewable energy and pollutant degradation;
  4. Microalgae harvesting for water decontamination and biofuel production.
