2023 AAEES Workshop - "Engineering Professional Licensure and Certification: Essential College Training and Design Experiences"
Location: Tiernan Hall Lecture 1, NJIT
Time: 10:30 am-12:00 pm:
Objective: To engage industries, students, and faculty in a discussion about Professional
Engineering (PE) licensure and Board Certified Environmental Engineer (BCEE) credentials,
and provide information on the essential college training and engineering design experiences
necessary to achieve them.
1. Introduction (15 minutes)
Welcome and introduction of the workshop objectives and AAEES Missions
Overview of the importance of professional licensure and certification in engineering
Introduction of panelists and workshop facilitators
2. Keynote speech (30 minutes) on the importance of professional licensure and certification in engineering (optional)
3. Panel Discussion (60 minutes)
Panel discussion with industry experts, PE/BCEE holders, and educators
Discussion on the importance of PE/BCEE credentials
Presentation on the essential college training and engineering design experiences necessary to achieve PE/BCEE credentials
4. Q&A session with the audience (30 minutes)
Breakout groups with industry experts and educators
Informal networking session with industry experts, educators, and students/faculty
Opportunity for students to connect with professionals and learn more about internships, job opportunities, and mentorship programs.
5. Wrap-up and Conclusion (10 minutes)
Recap of the workshop objectives and key takeaways
Final thoughts from the panelists and workshop facilitators- Sharing of experiences and insights
Acknowledgment of sponsors and collaborators
