Xiaonan’s topic is “Influences of Air, Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Carbon Dioxide Nanobubbles on Seeds Germination and Plants Growth”. In her research, she investigated the effects of four types of NBs (nitrogen, oxygen, air and carbon dioxide) on seed germination and plant growth. Especially, nitrogen NBs exhibited the most considerable effects in the seed germination and plant growth. This project holds promise in green and sustainable engineering applications in diverse fields (e.g., water/wastewater treatment, food processing, medical applications, and agriculture).

Explore the Nano World

On March 21, 2018, Likun and Xiaonan attended the AWWA NJ 83rd Annual Conference and joined the Student Research Poster Competition. Our CEE PhD students, Likun Hua and Xiaonan Shi won the First and Second Place in the competition respectively.

Likun’s is “Multifunctional Reactive Electrochemical Membranes (REM) for Emerging Contaminant Removal”. In his research, Likun set up a point-of-use treatment device shows unparalleled performance of removing emerging contaminant. This project will deliver new insight into the development of novel and sustainable water treatment technologies to support POU applications in residential and small community water purification.
